Invited talk at teacher educator colloquium in France
In April 2022, Marion Coumel and I were plenary speakers at a colloquium ("Formation des Formateurs") for primary education teacher educators in Saint-Éstève, France (Académie de Montpellier). In this talk, we presented our preliminary findings of a large-scale cross-country comparison of teacher motivation, self-confidence, and teaching practices in English Language Teaching. The presentation was video-recorded after the on-site event for dissemination.
Interview at Stockholm University
In April 2021, Marion Coumel and I were interviewed by Tore Nilsson and Una Cunningham from Stockholm University on the role of grammar teaching. The interview is part of the CIRCLE (Current inquiry and research conversations in language education) project, an online, freely accessible research reading circle for language teachers across the world. The CIRCLE page on the module of grammar teaching can be accessed here.
English Language Teaching in French Primary School: A classroom intervention project
In September 2023, I kicked off a classroom intervention study to be conducted in 2023/24 and 2024/25 in the French school district Académie de Montpellier. This project is carried out in close collaboration with Jean-Claude Tocabens (pedagogical advisor), Valérie Coumel (teacher and teacher trainer), Shona Whyte (Professor at Université Nice Côte d'Azur), and three primary school teachers. The first OSF pre-registration is available here.
Impact Award to link research and practice
In July 2021, I won the Impact Award awarded by the City of Vienna and the University of Vienna. This award allowed me to pack my research findings into short videos according to different topics. These videos will be used for future outreach projects, such as teacher workshops.
Contribution to "Yours Truly", the magazine of The Association of Teachers of English in Finland
In January 2023, The Association of Teachers of English in Finland published the new issue of the Yours Truly magazine. Pia Sundqvist and I are happy to be part of it, with our article Learning English through online games and TV shows? Teachers' views on opportunities for learning and implications for teaching.
